The Lockdown in China has put up restrictions on the movement of truck shipments due to the spread of the Covid-19. The truck shipments are carrying crucial components for the factories and different kinds of products for the ports. By blocking the truck shipments there could be a delay in the manufacturing of new products.
The truck drivers are ordered to take covid-19 PCR tests and move the shipment to other provinces. These restrictions can cause new disruption to the global supply chain of tires, electronics and car parts. The drivers are ordered to quarantine after a couple of the shipments which is limiting the drivers to move the material or components from the factories to ports.
The current problem is not the vessels the current problem is that there is no cargo as there are no trucks on the road to move the goods. The entire logistics has been disturbed throughout China as the road is the most commonly used mode to transport goods within the country.
The tire factories in China are facing a shortage of raw material and some workers are sent home till further notice. This year has been tough on the tire industry as first the prices of raw materials increased because of the escalating crude oil prices and freight increased with the delays in the delivery.
Maersk continuesits operations in Qingdao with the truck drivers to show health code and negative NAT report before the 48 hours of cargo delivery to their warehouse to avoid the spread of the virus.
